This product serves as a physical barrier to stop birds from gaining access to the underside of your solar panels and does not require any drilling, preserving any solar panel manufacturers warranty.
Created for straightforward installation and upkeep, our adjustable spikes maintain the integrity and functionality of your solar array while shielding it from potential harm and disturbances caused by nesting birds.
Ensure the correct sizes and quantities are purchased
Before buying your Solar Guard Adjustable Spike and Solar Speed Clips, there are several steps to take to make sure you obtain the right sizes and amounts.
- Begin by determining the thickness of your solar panels. Although the majority of contemporary solar arrays have a depth of 30mm, we also provide Speed clips in 35mm and 40mm to fit less common frame dimensions
- Next, measure the distance from the top of your solar panel to your roof. Using this measurement, choose the correct spike length for your solar array: 100mm, 130mm, 160mm, or 210mm.
- To complete your order for Solar Guard Adjustable Spikes and Enviroguard’s Speed Clips, determine the perimeter of your solar array.
Solarguard Adjustable Spike is sold by the metre and supplied in 50cm lengths. We recommend using six Speed Clips per meter (three Speed Clips per length).
Adjustable Spike Installation Instructions
Follow the below steps for accurate adjustable spike installation:
- Measure the depth of your solar panels to determine if 30mm, 35mm or 40mm speed clips are required (X).

2. Measure the distance from the top of the solar panel to the roof to determine which of the following is most suitable: 100mm, 130mm, 160mm, or 210mm (X).

3. Calculate the perimeter of your solar array to determine how many meters of Solarguard Adjustable Spike and quantity of Solar Speed Clips are required.

4. Hold a length of Solarguard Adjustable spike against your panel and install speed clips as demonstrated in the reference images below (x3 per length, x6 per meter), simply pushing into place. The Adjustable spike pins can be cut before installation to suit any roof profile.

5. Once the Speed Clips have been fitted the Adjustable Spike is secured in place. The proofing system can be removed at any time for maintenance or access to your solar panels by simply reversing the installation process.

6. The Solarguard Adjustable Spike should be installed to both internal and external corners leaving no gaps. The UV-stabilised polycarbonate base can be snapped by hand if you require less than a full length.

7. Complete a final check that all components have correctly been installed. Your Solar array is now safe from bird ingress!
