Choosing the SolarGuard 130mm adjustable solar spike
SolarGuard spikes are for solar panels that do not have a lip on the underside for the traditional mesh and clip system, and for installations on uneven roofs or profiled tin clad roofs. They stop pigeons getting under the panels. This version has a 130mm spike length before trimming, and the spikes can be cut down with a pair of wire cutters to leave a neat straight edge.

Which length of SolarGuard spike do I need?
The four versions differ in spike length before trimming: 100, 130, 160 and 210mm. Every length can be trimmed on site, so choose one that is at least as long as you need and cut it back to a neat straight edge.
How much do I need?
Measure the run of panel edge you want to protect in metres and order that many metres. Each metre arrives as two 500mm lengths.
Do I have to drill into the panels?
No. You fix the base with bird spike adhesive or with the Solar Spike Speed Clip, which clips on to the side of the frame without drilling.
How many clips will I need?
If you fix with clips rather than adhesive, we recommend 6 spike speed clips for every metre of spike, so 10m of spike needs 60 clips.
Spikes or mesh?
